Erin Martin

Architectural Technician, TowerPinkster

AAS in Architectural Technology, 2013
BS in Architecture and Sustainability, 2015

Erin Martin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture and Sustainability in 2015. Erin found Ferris’ program, that balanced the technical aspects of architecture with artistic and design principles, to be a perfect match with her interests and abilities. The skills Erin earned in college quickly led to a position as an architectural technician at TowerPinkster: Architects & Engineers in Kalamazoo, MI.  Erin works in a team setting on projects for elementary and middle schools that include additions, renovations, and new construction.

“I had close ties with Ferris because my sister attended the university. While visiting her I found that the size of campus and the city, the close-proximity to my home town, and its affordability were the perfect fit for me. The class sizes and the student teacher ratio also convinced me that I would be able to succeed in whatever program I chose.”

Erin’s favorite memory from Ferris is the day she graduated and President Eisler shared her story at the College of Engineering Technology graduation ceremony.  As President Eisler begin to read the academic achievements she accomplished at Ferris she watched her family’s faces and their surprise when he mentioned her name.  “For me it was the culmination of all the great experiences and successes I had at Ferris and I was able to rejoice in them all in a single moment surrounded by everyone who helped me get to that point.”

“The most valuable thing I learned is that life is a continuous learning experience. College can only teach so much in four years but if the professors can impart the importance of continuous improvement through learning then they have given you what you need to succeed for the rest of your life.”
