Our faculty stay connected to the people and organizations that are advancing architecture and facility management. They keep current with best practices and trends. Their networks become your networks.
Ferris is a teaching university, which means your professors are the people you engage with in the classroom and the studio. They know your name, where you’re from, and what interests you.
Professor Randy Damico came to Ferris State in Fall of 2021, bringing a unique mix of educational experience and professional practice to the faculty. His ten years of teaching experience have taken him to Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania; Ohio University in Athens; and Louisiana State University. While at Ohio University, he served as Co-Director of study abroad at the American University in Rome. He has presented papers and coordinated exhibitions in Spain, China and Hong Kong, as well as at Harvard and Ohio University. He has experience in professional architectural practice at Xten Architecture and Gehry Partners in Los Angeles, as well as Eskew + Dumez + Ripple in New Orleans, and Related Companies in Aspen, Colorado; and in his own practice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Professor Damico earned his Master of Architecture at Harvard University, and his Bachelor of Architecture the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. In addition, he has undertaken graduate studies in art history at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
He brings to our programs advanced skills in, and critical engagement with, digital technology. These skills will be effectively applied to his role as Coordinator of our Digital Media Center. Professor Damico will also be engaged in teaching architectural design and construction studios that explore the physical and ecological realities of making in the context of emerging technical innovations.
