The Architecture and Sustainability and Facility Management programs’ reputations for developing high-caliber graduates has resulted in a nearly 100% placement rate. Your future employers know you have been well prepared for professional life and that you will make valuable contributions to the organizations that are in your future.
A 2005 graduate of Ferris State’s Facilities Management program, John Parker is a seasoned business and facility management executive, who credits Ferris’ program with giving him the foundational skills and technical expertise to pursue a career in construction management and a post-graduate MBA degree.
“Ferris offered a very structured four-year program that kept me focused on completing my degree and finding a career in my field of study. I was also drawn to the smaller size of the campus and the smaller size of the degree program as well as Ferris’ reputation in the building management and construction industry.”
John is Vice President of Product Development with Elzinga & Volkers, located in Holland, MI. The company is involved in construction management, general contracting, and design/build services on healthcare, senior living, industrial and commercial projects around the U.S. His projects range from major expansions to renovation and new construction.
John’s work also requires coordination with a broad group of contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals. “Some of my most valuable lessons did not necessarily come directly from our curriculum but from working with others on a team. I found out very quickly that many careers demand a high level of interpersonal skills in addition to technical aptitude.”
